MCC Coaching Masterclass Series

Reflections on Mature Coaching

Emer Doyle is delighted to present her MCC Coaching Masterclass Series. During this series she will share personal reflections, challenges  and insights from her journey inwards along the path to ICF MCC credentialing and beyond.

The purpose of these one day interactive master classes is to provide a safe non judgemental space for coaches to deepen their coaching competence, renew their self confidence and connect with coaching peers to share experiences and learn from each other. These sessions will provide participants with the opportunity to fine tune their coaching style, engage in self care, acknowledge their coaching strengths while identifying areas for further development.

Every master class within the series will focus on a specific coaching theme. All themes will be directly related to the ICF
core coaching competencies. The common thread between each masterclass will be the consistent existence of the following:

  • Teaching input

  • Space for personal & group reflection

  • Live MCC coaching demonstration

  • Coaching practice and evidence based feedback

  • Resource materials

  • ICF CCE units

This masterclass series is intended to provide an inclusive learning space for all coaches with different levels of experience. It may be of particular interest to anyone who is considering applying for an ICF credential or existing
credentialed coaches who will require additional CCE units as part of their 3 year credential renewal process.
*
In order to renew an ICF credential you are required to obtain 40 CCEUs. (24 CCEUs must be for core competencies)

Theme:     Exploring the Reveal Stage of the Coaching Conversation Cycle

At masterful level, a coach is curious about the wholeness of their client; who they are presenting as, who they authentically are and who they wish to become. Every mature coaching session consists of a coaching conversation cycle with three significant parts;  the reveal stage, the transition stage and the conclusion stage.

The Coaching Conversation Cycle is a model Emer created to illustrate who a coach needs to BE in relationship to the client at MCC level. This model highlights the way in which the core coaching competencies are woven into a coaching conversation with ease and naturalness.

Emer will provide an overview of the coaching conversation cycle, explaining where each of the competencies are most effectively positioned in the cycle, illustrating the impact of their application on the client's ability to move forward towards their desired outcome in any given session and the overall coaching relationship.

This interactive masterclass will then focus on the Reveal Stage of the coaching conversation in greater detail.

Participants will learn where the coach needs to place their attention and how the coach needs to BE in relationship to WHO their client is presenting as and what they bring for discussion in the early stage of every conversation. Emer will share ways in which a coach can partner to co - create and serve a congruent in depth coaching agreement by enabling a client have a conversation with all the parts of themselves. This in turn invites the authentic highest agenda of the client to reveal itself.

Masterclass One - Coaching the WHO of your Client

Date:         Wednesday 17th August 2016

Venue:      Laois Education Centre, Block Road, Port Laoise

Time:         9:00am - 5:30pm

Title:          Coaching the WHO of your Client

Cost:        €200

CCEU:     ICF approved 7 CCEUs for core coaching competencies

Theme:     Coaching the WHO v's Coaching the WHAT

A coach is coaching the WHAT of their client when they are focused on the problem, issue, or challenge that the client brings and thinking their role is to be a problem solver. The coach uses problem solving questions to determine what is wrong and how to fix it. A linear problem solving approach usually indicates coaching the WHAT is occuring and can dilute the potential richness and effectivness of a coaching conversation.

A coach is coaching the WHO of their client when they focus on understanding who the client is and what they really want. The client still brings a problem, issue or challenge to the session , but the coach trusts the coaching process and focuses their questions, observations and reflections on drawing out the wisdom the client already has from their life experiences. The coach listens for and draws out the client's strengths, values, beliefs, needs, wants, fears, passions, language patterns, basically anything to do with their mindset , thoughts and feelings. The coach reflects back with curiosity to the client, without attachment,  what they witness happening in the presenet moment of the session with the client's energy, tone and pace shifts. The focus is on seeing the client as resourceful, helping the client to place their problem or challenge in its proper context of simply being a barrier or an obstacle to getting what they really want. The coach still holds the attention on WHAT the client wants but focuses on WHO the client is, which is at the core of why they perceive they have a problem in the first place. As a result, transformation and  strengthening of the client's way of being can occur and they can handle their "problem" from a whole new perspective.

The transition to masterful coaching occurs when the coach is fully focused on coaching the WHO of the client and letting the WHAT follow as a direct output.

This interactive workshop will explore how the ICF core coaching competencies are demonstrated at masterful level.

Participants will be invited to experiment with curiosity, how their way of being in relationship to their clients can effect the richness of their coaching conversations.

Learning Outcomes:

Coaches who attend this masterclass and access the toolkit provided will have an increased ability to:

  • Recognise the difference between the demonstration of core coaching competencies at ACC, PCC and MCC level.

  • Act as their own observer and identify areas of competence for further development in their own coaching style.

  • Implement adjustments to their way of being to positvely impact the effectiveness of their coaching conversations.
